Flatbed Tow Truck Operator – Class C

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Flatbed Tow Truck Operator to support vehicle recovery and transportation operations in Austin, TX.

This is a hands-on driving role responsible for safely recovering and transporting vehicles using flatbed towing equipment. The ideal candidate has previous flatbed or rollback towing experience, a clean driving record, and a strong commitment to safety.

This position requires a valid Class C driver's license and the ability to meet applicable DOT physical and medical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Safely perform vehicle recovery operations on public roads.

• Operate flatbed towing equipment, including winching procedures.

• Load, secure, transport, and unload vehicles safely and efficiently.

• Operate equipment with a combined gross vehicle weight between 10,001 and 26,000 pounds.

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, trailers, and equipment.

• Follow applicable DOT regulations and company safety procedures.

• Maintain accurate driving, delivery, and hours-of-service logs.

• Communicate with dispatch and ground support regarding assignments and vehicle status.

• Perform basic vehicle maintenance as needed, including refueling, checking fluids and tire pressure, and identifying maintenance concerns.

• Coordinate with logistics and operations teams to complete assignments safely and efficiently.

• Adapt to changing assignments and operational priorities.

Qualifications

• Valid Class C driver's license required.

• Clean driving record required.

• 2+ years of flatbed towing or similar towing experience preferred.

• Experience operating large or heavy vehicles safely.

• Familiarity with flatbed towing and winching procedures.

• Ability to meet applicable DOT physical and medical requirements.

• Ability to pass required background and drug screenings.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• Ability to repeatedly enter and exit vehicles throughout the shift.

• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

• Strong communication and organizational skills.

• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.

• Must be flexible with work hours and changing operational needs.

• Strong attention to safety and detail.
