Position Overview
We are hiring a reliable Technical Support Specialist to support the day-to-day operations of an autonomous vehicle fleet in Austin, TX.
This position combines technical troubleshooting with hands-on fleet support. You will serve as a first point of contact for technical issues, troubleshoot and document problems, and escalate issues to engineering teams when needed.
The ideal candidate has previous technical or operations support experience, is comfortable working in a Unix command-line environment, and can stay organized while handling multiple issues in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Serve as the first point of contact for technical issues reported by safety drivers and operators.
Triage, document, troubleshoot, and escalate vehicle and system issues.
Use Unix command-line tools for troubleshooting, log review, and issue investigation.
Communicate with drivers, operators, and engineering teams regarding technical issues.
Support vehicle dispatch and return processes.
Perform vehicle startup and shutdown procedures.
Monitor vehicle charging status and confirm log uploads.
Perform basic hands-on troubleshooting, including reconnecting cables and checking onboard device indicators.
Confirm vehicle and system readiness before deployment.
Move vehicles within the garage or operational site as needed.
Assist with maintaining internal procedures, instructions, and workflow documentation.
Qualifications
At least 1 year of experience in technical support, operations support, or a similar role.
Comfortable working in a Unix environment on a daily basis.
Working knowledge of basic Unix commands and utilities, including
cd,ls,rm,cp,scp,cat,vim,uptime, andjournalctl.Experience using Slack or similar workplace communication tools.
Experience with ticketing systems such as Jira, YouTrack, or similar platforms.
Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and issue-escalation skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Ability to manage multiple requests in a fast-paced environment.
Valid driver's license held for at least 3 years.
Comfortable moving vehicles around an operational site.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work on-site around vehicles for extended periods.
